  • How often should I fertilize my lawn in New Jersey?

Most lawns in New Jersey require 5–7 fertilizer applications per year to stay healthy and weed-free. Cool-season grasses common in Central NJ (such as bluegrass and fescue) benefit from a structured program that includes early-spring feeding, summer support, and fall recovery applications. At The Lawn Officers, we use a 6-step fertilization and weed control program designed specifically for Central New Jersey conditions to promote thick, healthy turf and reduce weeds over time.

  • When should crabgrass preventer be applied in NJ?

Crabgrass preventer should be applied in early spring, when soil temperatures reach around 55°F, typically between mid-March and mid-April in Central New Jersey. A common local indicator is the blooming of forsythia bushes. Timing is critical—if applied too late, crabgrass may already begin germinating. Our early spring application ensures your lawn is protected before weeds become a problem.

  • How long does it take to fix a lawn?

Improving a lawn is a process, not an overnight fix. Most lawns in Central New Jersey take 12–18 months to fully transform. You’ll typically notice improvement within the first few treatments, but achieving a thick, healthy, weed-resistant lawn requires consistent fertilization, proper timing, and seasonal care. Our programs are designed to deliver steady, long-term results—not quick, temporary fixes.

  • Do you offer weed control for lawns in Hamilton, NJ?

Yes, we provide professional lawn weed control services in Hamilton, NJ, and throughout Central New Jersey. Our program targets common local weeds like crabgrass, dandelions, clover, and nutsedge using a combination of pre-emergent and post-emergent treatments. As a locally owned company, we understand the specific weed pressures and soil conditions in the Hamilton area and tailor our treatments accordingly.
